Be Still and Know

Psalm 46:10-11 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

The sunbeams had gathered enough strength to create a warming sensation upon the side of my face as the resident wren erupted into her usual melodious melody. Her throat moved in a harmonious rhythm suitable to match the tune designed and choreographed by her creator. The only ticket required to be blessed by such a performance was an ear that knew the worth of her faultless rendition. Her daily persistence was not motivation by such meaningless things as gold or silver; but rather the satisfaction of “being.” The joy of being able to do the thing you love and knowing the thing you love is what you were created for; that within itself is the worth life! There was nothing new about this; it was encapsulated in the past, present, and the future. Yet for me it was a first; for until now I was too busy living to see it!
