This book is an in-depth study of 2 Peter.  Having only been approximately a year since his last letter, the need arises for a second.  While the style of the writing will be similar to that of the first, there will be a change in the spirit of the writing.  In the second letter, Peter tends to identify more with his audience as he refers to himself as “Simon Peter, a servant” before declaring himself to be “an Apostle of Jesus Christ”.  This union is further emphasized when he includes himself with “them that have obtained like precious faith”.  In his second epistle Peter emphasizes equality within the body of Christ as he refers to his audience as believers, brethren, and blessed.
